IVANETE BLANCO
Ivanete Blanco is currently a Professor and Chair of the Art & Design Department at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi. She holds a BFA in Graphic Design from Oklahoma State University and an MFA in Visual Communication from the University of Oklahoma. She has been a working designer since 1997, and a design educator at the university level since 2003. She taught at Texas State University and Old Dominion University before arriving at TAMU-CC. As a practicing designer, the totality of Ivanete Blanco’s creative work reflects the variety in scope and media that results from successful collaboration with clients. The body of work she has created has received consistent recognition, both in terms of continued design commissions, and by the profession in competition and exhibition at the national and international level. In 2010, she began using the letterpress process as another avenue to create work. While she continues to pursue commissioned design projects using both digital and letterpress processes, her exploration of the latter has opened possibilities for work outside of the client relationship that is more experimental and collaborative. The work produced has been recognized by publications such as Communication Arts, Print Magazine, Graphic Design USA, the Creativity Awards Annual, and CMYK Magazine. The self-initiated letterpress projects have also resulted in display in regional, national, and international juried exhibitions at art galleries and museums.
